The Philippine Marketing Association (PMA) will stage the 1st Asian Marketing Leadership Summit (AMLS) in the country dubbed as “50 Shades of Marketing” to be held on July 8 and 9 at the Sofitel Tent.
50 Shades of Marketing
As the team event implies, like the sensational book “Fifty Shades of Grey” adapted to a movie, 50 Shades of Marketing will be effective to every marketer because the association will be featuring fifty (50) different marketing leaders, each being an expert in their own core – their marketing shade.
Can you imagine? That’s 50 kinds of marketing speakers sharing his or her expertise in the marketing arena marketing under one roof! Basically, 50 shades mean 50 kinds of marketing information, discussions and interactions from the experts. This will be a brand new type of summit compared to the previous conferences that PMA had organized. The Asian Marketing Leadership Summit will showcase different marketing tracks from branding to PR, and media. Each participant could choose which marketing shade to focus on.
Donald Lim, over-all chairman of the Philippine Marketing Association, explained the concept of the “Fifty Shades of Marketing”:
“Marketing is always about brands being dominant and consumers submitting. But in reality, every brand has to submit first because the submissive is the one who is in control,” he stated.
As a common practice, a marketer’s goal is to be able to manipulate the market, influencing consumers to trust a brand’s promise and accept it favorably. But according to a marketing guru, to be in control, brands must first learn to submit. This is a lesson in marketing parallel to the lesson of the hit “Fifty Shades of Grey”.
50 Shades of Marketing will house speakers from government, showbiz, branding, digital, each talking about their marketing shades – how they worked out their marketing problems and what made their solutions differ from others.
The 2-day event will be spearheaded by Senator Chiz Escudero: on day one, he will deliver the keynote during the plenary session while Francis Kong will close the plenary. On day two, ABS-CBN CEO Charo Santos will open the session while the closing plenary will be an ABS-CBN Special Kris Aquino and Boy Abunda’s session with celebrity guests.
The summit will not simple be a venue of opportunity for a marketer to learn and go to the next level, it will also be a strategic place to get to know fellow marketers. According to Lim, “Participants could learn as much as he could by choosing the track that they want. They should also take this chance to network like they’ve networked before. Lim also added, “We felt that every marketing person has his or her own shade of creativity and innovation.”
